Help!! Trying to grow out african american hair without relaxer!!?

I'm just about 13. And I think the main reason my hair keeps breaking off is the relaxers my mom keeps putting on it.

My hair is so short and i hate it so much is like ear length!!

I plan on shampooing/conditioning my hair once a week like a always do then using my heat protection and mouuse blow drying and straightening it.

And within the next month I plan on getting hair trims ever 2 1/2 months.

Will this help my hair grow stronger, longer, and healthier?

Will my hair become all poofy and afro-ey? Cause i dont want that.

Also do you recommend ANY time of hair products preferrabllly ones u can buy from walmart, i dont have a lot of money.

how will my hair look after about6 months of doing this?

Get a moisturizer so it won't be like an afro. And perms really do break off the hair. Get your hair trimmed by a profession and since your hair is so short make sure your mom tells them exactly how and where to cut so they won't cut it too short.

EDIT: It's good that your washing you rhair every week too. In about 6 months it'll probably be like 3 inches longer.

I'm glad that you realize that relaxers are damaging.

Answers to your questions in order:

-YES. Great job! But trims aren't always necessary in my opinion. Please use heat as little as possible. If you must, use a hooded dryer (i have the one by conair) and put rollers in your hair to straighten it. I'm glad you are using heat protection. I recommend Chi Silk Infusion

-If you stop relaxing your hair, your hair WILL go back to it's original state which is super curly. Depending on YOUR hair that might result in afro like hair.

-Hmmm, try deep conditioning with Organic Roots Stimulator pack once a week. Shampoo with Creme of Nature. Moisturize daily with "Care Free Curl Gold"(no, it will not make your hair curly)

Drop the grease! Seriously! You should not be applying that to your hair! YOU DO NOT NEED IT- IT IS MAKING YOUR HAIR DRY AND DAMAGED! Do not put that crap on your scalp either! I can't believe the other answer told you to use "a little"

Please take my advice on relaxed hair:

First of all, keeping your hair moisturized. This is as simple as wetting it in the shower, or wetting your hands and running them through your hair. DO NOT buy any moisturizer that has MINERAL OIL or PETROLATUM! care free curl gold and s-curl are popular moisturizers . you can get them at wal-mart. Do NOT use that Pink lotion!

2)use a wide tooth comb(as little as possible, maybe once a day) to avoid hairs breaking.

3)Wash your hair at once a week with shampoo. I wash mine with JUST conditioner sometimes too.

4)after shampooing, DEEP CONDITION by putting condish on your hair and putting a plastic cap over it and leaving it on for 15-30 minutes

5)massage your scalp daily

6)do not put any oils or "grease" on your scalp. Same goes with hair.

7)Try to relax your hair less. Every 8-10 weeks or longer!

8)You know your hair is breaking because if you look on the ends you will not see a white bulb. If you DO see a withe thing on the end, that is just shed hair. You shed 100 hairs a day, so it's all good. If it IS broken hair, do a protein treatment (use Organic Roots Stimulator mayonaisse or Aphogee 2 minute)

9)Try to put your hair up. Or protect your hair by leaving it in braids. DO NOT LEAVE BRAIDS IN TOO LONG or you will loose your hairline!

10)Do not limit your hair care products to the "ethnic" section of walmart. A lot of that stuff is crap *cough* Motions *cough* Creme of nature is really good though
