Will my lab puppy grow hair?

We rescued a black lab puppy from a breeder. He's 9 weeks old. He was born with no hair, will hair grow? What can we do with his VERY dry skin until hair grows?

If your lab puppy is pure breed then they are prone to skin allergies that cause their hair to fall out. We had to get a special medicated shampoo from the vet that seems to work. Your vet should also be able to tell you when to expect the hair.

Some times the food they eat also creates a skin allergy.

The most common skin problems with dogs is allergies and the most common allergen is eggs get a cream from your vet and try a better dog food also supplements are great for the coat.

As mentioned by others labs are very prone to skin allergies all our labs are working dogs and one thing you can do to get oil back in their coats is put a tsp of peanut oil in their food. Since yours has no coat i dont know if this would work for his/her skin or not but could be worth a try to prevent the expense of the medicated shampoos and such. Labs have a naturally oily coat and most shampoos tend to strip the oil from their skin and coat as well. So hope that helps and thank you for rescuing him/her labs are wonderful dogs and i always hate to see one in bad shape.
