Trimming hair...but want it to grow longerrrr?

hey guys! um i had a question. i have heard that if you cut your hair (the split ends), it will grow longer faster...is this true? see the problem is

i have some split ends, and i need to get them cut. i want to grow out my hair over the summer. should i get my ends cut at the end of summer? or should i get them cut in the begining? at first, i thought that i should let my hair grow first, then get the ends cut. then it occured to me that it wouldn't grow as fast with bad ends...........help?

Cutting won't make your hair grow faster but your split ends will get worse and you will need to have more cut off if you wait.

Yes, you should probably cut it. Cutting off your split ends WOULD probably let your hair grow faster...and it wouldn't look worse than it does now. Trim about 1-2 inches off the ends! : ]

split ends grow very slow. I think u should cut them off at the begining of summer, that way u'll have time for ur hair to grow longer

It won't make your hair grow faster but because the ends will be neat and trim it will appear longer. Cut them at least once every two months only a few inches and it will keep it in really nice shape. Also stay away from hair dryers if you can that's horrible on long hair! Also leave in conditioners on the ends will help with preventing split ends. (mines about 3 and a half feet long I look like a freaking hippy lol)

start from the beggining so it looks nice

Trimming the ends doesn閳ユ獩 have anything to do with how fast your hair grows, that閳ユ獨 just a myth people came up with.

Since you already have split-ends though, I would suggest getting them trimmed as soon as possible if you want to grow your hair out. Split-ends have the tendency to keep splitting, so if you don閳ユ獩 cut it now, by the time you get around to trimming it, your hair dresser might actually have to cut off more, depending on how fast your hair splits apart. Trust me. I閳ユ獫e always had long hair, but when I was about thirteen, I had this really stupid hair rebellion thing going on, where I refused to get my hair cut just because people kept telling me to. I let it go so long that the ends of my brown hair turned blonde (sun bleaching), and I had to get nearly a foot chopped off because the ends were so horrible. And if that wasn閳ユ獩 bad enough, after that, I had to be a moron and let it keep growing for a really long time without a trim so I could get it long again, and I had to get about six inches cut off to get it neat looking again.

Regular trims are the best way to go.
